Stonefields, established in 1997, is located in the famous Limestone Coast region of South Australia, home of Coonawarra and Wrattonbully. This region is highly valued for its excellent soils and cool climate and is one of the most famous zones in Australia for producing powerful wines.
At 225 acres (90 Hectares) Stonefields is our biggest vineyard. Soil composition varies across this large area, with some sections made up of terra rossa clay loams over limestone, characteristic of the neighbouring Coonawarra region. Combined with minor duplex brown loams over subsoils of red/orange clay and ironstone gravel, these soils are great for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Pinot Gris.
